Invoices built from the hours you actually tracked

Temporal.ist records your time automatically, then turns the unbilled sessions of a client into an itemised invoice with your rates, rounding and VAT. No copying hours from one tool into another.

From tracked time to a sent invoice

  1. Track as usual

Sessions from files, websites and timers land on projects, and projects belong to clients.

  2. Choose a client and a period

The unbilled sessions appear with their hours, at the rate of each project or client.

  3. Create the draft

It gets its invoice number right away. Adjust lines, descriptions, rounding and VAT.

  4. Send it and get paid

Email the PDF or share a private link, then mark it paid. Overdue invoices stand out.

The details invoices need

  • Rates that inherit

Set a rate per project, per client or one default for everything. A rate of zero is billed at zero, never replaced.

  • Exact amounts

Calculated in cents with half-up rounding, so the PDF, the list and the totals always agree.

  • Numbering that holds

Numbers follow your format, are assigned at the draft, and are never reused.

  • Nothing billed twice

Each session goes on one invoice only, and billed sessions are locked against edits.

  • Your template

Your logo, address, payment details and VAT on a clean PDF in the client's currency.

  • Private share links

Clients open the invoice without an account. Revoke or renew the link whenever you like.

Rounding without surprises

Set once how your clients want time rounded, for example up to the next quarter hour, and every line follows it.

  • Task hours on a line always add up to the line's hours
  • Totals per currency, for clients billed in euros and in dollars
  • Fixed a session after drafting? Rebuild the draft before you send it
  • Overdue invoices are marked automatically once their due date passes

Questions

More in the documentation

Which plan do I need for invoicing?

Pro or Team. On Team, the organisation's owner and admins create and send invoices for everyone's tracked time.

Can a session end up on two invoices?

No. A session can be on one invoice only, and it stays locked while it is billed. Remove it from the invoice, or cancel the invoice, to free it again.

How are invoice numbers assigned?

A number is given when the draft is created, following your organisation's format, and it is never used again, not even when the draft is cancelled. That keeps the sequence free of gaps you cannot explain.

Can my client see the details behind an invoice?

Share the invoice by its private link and your client can open it without an account, download the PDF and see the work behind each line.
